This weekend unexpectedly used up 3/4 of a freshly filled gas tank. Saturday started with Karl waking me up at 8am wanting to go to the zoo, so I rolled out of bed and off we went. We like to go early to beat the crowds and it was the first good weather forecase for a weekend in quite a while so we figured it would be busy. But, the weather hadn't quite warmed up by 9:30am so we were freezing but still had fun.
We took the little train ride around the zoo which was basically just the backs of buildings and piles of construction materials. We did get a good view of the wolves and the elk and the highlight was the baby elephant which was being closely guarded by the two adult elephants. They were standing on each side of the baby and crossing their trunks in front of him, it was so precious!
After that we walked over to the Forestry Museum. Not quite as exciting as the Zoo but interesting in an educational sort of way.
It was around 1pm by the time we left and the weather was sunny and gorgeous and finally waming up and we decided to go to the beach! We haven't been in quite a while so it was fun to get away. We ate at Blackfish Cafe which we loved the last time we went, but this time wasn't quite as great. Still good, not great. I got a pasta with smoked salmon and white cheddar which was tasty, but for some reason the smoked salmon tasted like lil smokies. Weird.
Inn at Spanish Head is fabulous and I highly recommend it.
And now for your viewing pleasure:
