Relay For Life

Well, we survived our two hours of walking for a good cause, and it was pretty fun. It was cooler than expected so we ran a lap to warm up first. Karl left me in the dust after the first hour so his boss and I strolled at a slower pace and chatted for the second hour. Then, at 12am, I was craving Taco Bell!! We had to settle for McDonalds but that's okay because your metabolism is higher just after exercise so that's the best time to eat, right? Right?? I imagine we'll do this again next year too!

Huggies!

Popping back in to share a funny story... Karl just informed me that we got a sample of Huggies diapers in the mail. He wanted to know why :o) I just laughed and told him they probably got my name from a pregnancy/parenting magazine subscription I purchased when I started thinking of starting my own online baby boutique and wanted to keep an eye on the current products and trends. I assured him I did not request a sample and I would prefer to cloth diaper anyways. Oh how I wish I could have seen his face when he opened up the mailbox and found diapers!!!

Two (Ten) Weeks Notice

I handed in my 10 week notice to my manager on Wednesday. I figured I might as well tell her now and give her plenty of time to hire someone instead of springing it on her with just two weeks, so I will work through the end of September (unless I find something great before then, but I told my manager that too). I don't have a job lined up yet but there is still plenty of time so we aren't worried. Karl and I are walking tonight in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. We are signed up through Karl's job to walk from 10pm-12am. It's late but it should be fun, I told him it would be a romantic midnight stroll :o) And it should be cool by then although the high today is only supposed to be 78 so it may end up being a little too cool, but it should still be fun! We're planning on a spaghetti dinner to load up on carbs :o) I'll let you know how it goes.

It's cooling off...sort of.

Well, we survived the way-too-hot weekend. It has cooled off to 86 which feels great! It's hard to cook in this heat but we are trying not to eat out as much anymore, these extra newlywed pounds are not pretty :o) I made Sweet & Sour Meatballs last night (Grandma's recipe) and they turned out pretty good. Tonight it's oven BBQ chicken and sweet corn. Am I making you hungry? If anyone has any recipes to share, feel free, I'm always looking for new ones! Well it looks like we are for sure moving up North when our apartment lease is up. That means I will be looking for a new job which is okay with me. I may just go through a temp agency since that worked out so well the last time. Oops, the buzzer just went off, time to check the chicken. I hope everyone else is staying cool this Summer, especially our family in California with the power outages!

Feelin' Hot Hot Hot!!!

It is way too hot right now, worse than yesterday! I just checked the weather and it said "102 but feels like 104"!!! I don't live in Arizona anymore, it's not supposed to be this hot here! We have all the fans going and are trying to get a breeze but not having much luck. Yes, I know I'm complaining, but we're not used to this. We have been taking it easy today. Karl did some computer work and I did some organizing. Now I'm thinking of sitting in front of the fan and doing some reading. I have three books started at the moment, The Omnivore's Dilema, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Ina May's Guide to Childbirth (don't get your hopes up, we're not getting pregnant just yet). I need to just pick one and stick with it! Okay, my fingers are even sweaty from typing...off to the fan I go.

Look at me, I'm blogging!

I figued it was time to jump on the blogging bandwagon, everyone is doing it, right? I'm sure I will be blogging on here more than Karl but that's okay. I thought this would be a nice way to keep family and friends up to date on what we are doing. Our news right now is that we are looking at moving up to Wilsonville when our apartment lease is up in September. With Karl's new job in Tigard, the commute from Salem isn't much fun. Other than that we are just trying to survive the heat at the moment, it's up to 100 degrees for the second time this summer! Our apartment and neither of our cars have air conditioning so we're doing our best not to melt. The first year of married life is still going well and we are looking forward to our anniversary in September. Not sure if we will go anywhere to celebrate but we are thinking about it. I will do my best to keep up on the blogging, please feel free to leave comments, we would love to hear from everyone!
